Kenny + Kayla / Cambridge Butterfly Wedding

This wedding is solidified as the last wedding I was able to do before the pandemic hit, and it was on Leap Day, no less! Kenny and Kayla had an intimate wedding at Cambridge Buttery Conservatory in February 2020, with all their best people around. Personal touches, DIY, and decor contributed by friends were sprinkled throughout the day. Also, SO MANY BUTTERFLIES. These two originally only required a half-day of coverage, but I ended up hanging around even longer to catch up with all the lovely humans in attendance that I knew from elementary AND high school. Needless to say, I didn’t want to leave.

Now, February is not a warm month. Leather jackets aren’t particularly warm either. But this gang powered through to snap some photos in the glorious and fleeting winter sunshine before hiding back inside. I was relieved to still have some of that golden hour remaining post-ceremony too, so that I could sneak Kenny and Kayla out just the two of them. Again, troopers in the sub-zero’s temperatures. The sun was setting over the parking lot but who cares. You go where the light goes, and it always pays off. The early nightfall then gave us the opportunity to photograph the wedding party and family photos entirely in flash, which isn’t typical but somehow this group made them look as chic as ever.

The rest of the night consisted of hilarious and heartfelt speeches, catching up, and one energetic dance floor. Remember how amazing it was to have the ability to dance in close quarters with your best friends? Hashtag covid. See you next year, dance floors.
