A Springtime Castello Di Celsa Tuscany Wedding

Where does one even begin after photographing the most other-worldly editorial wedding shoot at the unimaginably beautiful and one-of-a-kind wedding venue Castello di Celsa?

This past Spring, I flew out to Florence, Italy to capture an incredible styled wedding put on by the incomparable team at Edelweiss Wed. According to its bio, “this venue has belonged to the same family for about four centuries. The peculiarity is that, since 1612, it has often been inherited by the females of the family; from the noble de Vecchi family from Siena to the Florentine Antinori family to the current owners of the Aldobrandini family.” The grounds are so clearly steeped in both rich history and immense care; a property that only remains this breathtaking due to the commitment of its ancestors and current team. It’s so vast and beautiful, you could easily photograph a wedding here 100 times over and never run out of nooks and corners to create magic in. The vista views of Siena - one of Tuscany’s gems - are unbeatable. The castle structure, the rolling ivy along its stone sides, and on-site chapel, have been maintained so well that it feels as though you’re stepping through time. While on the inside, the Castello boasts warm lighting, vintage wallpaper, and intentional fixtures that feel as though you’ve landed on a romantic period piece set.

I don't think there's a soul on earth who would debate against the magic of Italy. The culture, food, natural beauty, music, and history, and so on. For me personally, my Italian heritage is something I am deeply proud of and connected to. Being able to capture these kinds of celebrations in my family's home country is a kind of significance difficult to put into words. While my family hails from the Caserta area of Italy, the region of Tuscany is incredibly popular amongst couples looking to have a destination wedding. Not only is the weather and obvious environmental beauty lovely (not as hot as Sicily, but temperate well into Autumn), but there is a vast amount of stunning land, with rolling hills, vistas, wineries and villas, making it hard to pass up as a potential wedding venue. The nearby metropolitan city of Florence serves a wonderful wedding location, but from Firenze, there's easy train access into the Tuscan countryside for venues just like this one. Something that I love to remind those looking at destination weddings as a possibility; is that it is often much more feasible than you think.

Styled shoots are quite common in the wedding photogaphy industry, though I choose to limit them and feature real weddings whenever I can. Occasionally, however, these types of projects are of course an excellent addition to a portfolio, especially during the typical wedding off-season when photographers have the ability to get creative, push boundaries, and sharpen their skills. This editorial Tuscan shoot stands to function as a source of potential and immense inspiration to those considering a wedding at this venue. But not only that, fragments of it can be implemented into any couples' wedding, no matter the location. Colour choices, floral arrangements, ceremony and reception set-ups, details, and even the couple's attire can all be utilised as inspiration in your own day. The team at Edelweiss Wed and all involved vendors put so much thought into the making of this shoot that it might even take all day to walk through it all. But suffice to say, they are experts in their field and an absolute honour to work alongside.

Below is a selection of my favourites from this utter “pinch-me” kind of day. I shot a large majority of the photos from this wedding shoot on film, to enhance the already present vintage nods to the Italian countryside. Reminiscing back on these images to select some highlights sent me right back to the day, and what an honour it is any time I get to capture love stories abroad. After this Florence trip, I was lucky enough to photograph even more unions in Italy and Europe through 2025, and I relish at the thought of returning. Who knows what 2026 will bring? Enjoy xx
